The People Behind the Practice
We're not a big firm, and we never wanted to be. Get to know the people who'll actually be in your corner.
Why We Do This Work
This firm started because we got tired of watching good people get treated like numbers.
FINDING MY PATH
David has been practicing law in South Carolina since 1999 and opened his firm in 2003. Before becoming an attorney, he worked in banking, software, and marketing. None of it felt like the right fit. Right before law school that changed, because he personally experienced the real difference the right lawyer can make.
WHY PERSONAL INJURY
COMMUNITY PERSPECTIVE
We also do something almost no other firm around here does. We run focus groups. Real people from this community, sitting down and telling us honestly how they see a situation before it ever gets near a courtroom. It keeps us grounded. It keeps us honest and it makes us better at telling your story to the people who will ultimately decide it.
Our team only takes on personal injury matters. Car and truck accidents, falls, medical negligence. Situations where someone else's carelessness changed a family's life. We made that choice on purpose. When you focus on one thing, you get to know it inside and out, and you get to know the people who need you most.
The Team
This firm is small because we want it that way. You won't get passed between departments here. You'll know our names, and we'll know yours.
DAVID BLACKWELL
David has spent decades helping people whose lives were changed by serious injuries. He believes every client deserves honesty, thoughtful preparation, and someone willing to take the time to understand their situation. He's a South Carolina native who believes the law should work for regular people, not just the ones who can afford to make noise. He's tried cases, taken depositions, and represented clients in courtrooms across South Carolina. He's also served his community in ways that have nothing to do with law, including a stint as mayor of a small South Carolina town and years spent teaching a business law course at USC Lancaster. He believes rules should make sense, and if one doesn't, he's not afraid to ask why it exists in the first place.
DANA
Dana has been the backbone of this office for over fourteen years. She's a Lancaster native who wears more hats than any job title could capture: legal assistant, office manager, and the person who keeps everything and everyone running. She's also usually the first familiar voice you'll hear when you call. Clients often say Dana feels like family before the first meeting is even over. That's not an accident. It's just who she is.
LINDA
Linda spent her career in Lancaster County schools, working as a teacher, middle school assistant principal, elementary principal, and Director of Elementary before retiring and joining the David Blackwell Law team. She brings a lifetime of experience caring for people through hard moments, and she's bringing that same care to every person who walks through our door. After a lifetime spent serving the Lancaster community through education, she's enjoying the opportunity to continue caring for people in a new way.
Associations We’re A Part Of
What We Won’t Compromise On
A few things matter more to us than settling quickly or looking impressive.
-
Good outcomes take time to build. We'd rather spend two years doing something right than two months doing something fast.
-
We tell our clients the truth, even when it's inconvenient. Even when it makes a matter harder. That honesty is what lets us build something real.
-
We take on situations other firms turn away from, the complicated ones, the ones that take real investment. We don't run a volume practice. We run a practice built around actually knowing the people we represent.
-
Every person who comes to us deserves the same attention, whether their situation is straightforward or complex. That's not a policy. It's just how we treat people.
